Rephasing for Tenants
What does this mean for me?
The re-phasing of programme means the total length of the regeneration programme will be reduced by up to three years. Some of the very real benefits of the regeneration programme will also be delivered earlier than originally planned. Whilst nearly everyone will be able to move to their new home more quickly, some blocks won’t now be redeveloped until a little later in the programme.
As a Secure Tenant living within one of South Actons building within the masterplan area you will have a choice of moving to one of the new homes being built at South Acton and becoming a tenant of L&Q housing association at a social rent level, or staying as a Council tenant by moving away from South Acton and bidding on properties that become vacant elsewhere in the borough. The majority of residents choosing to stay living at South Acton so far have simply moved directly to one of the new homes being built.
When & Where will I move?
To find out when it is planned that residents living at your block will be moved to alternative homes - please select your building from our page - www.yoursouthacton.co.uk/your-building. The exact time you move will depend on your future choice for rehousing. If you choose to stay living at South Acton and move to one of the new homes you will be offered a property suitable for your household needs at a choice of locations as per the phasing plan - http://www.yoursouthacton.co.uk/regeneration
The Council understands that moving can be a difficult and stressful time. A range of sources of help and information are available to help your move go smoothly. We are currently updating the Community Lettings Plan booklet sent to all residents in 2012 to reflect recent changes and lessons learned from earlier phases. The revised booklet will be delivered to you as soon as possible.
If you have any enquiries about your move and compensation, please speak to the Council’s regeneration team. If you want to know more about the new homes, please speak to a member of staff from L&Q. Both teams are now located at a new office: 81 Enfield Road, Acton, W3 8RB (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday). You can call them on: 020 8896 9372 (Ealing Council) or 0300 456 9888 (L&Q). You can also send an email via the website.
There is a resident focussed website for the regeneration programme: www.yoursouthacton.co.uk . This has a wealth of information and copies of past newsletters and minutes of the bi-monthly Community Board meetings, where important decisions about the regeneration programme are made.
If you’d like free and confidential advice about any aspect of the scheme the Council employs an independent resident advisor, Keith Mann. Keith can be contacted on: 0800 374864 or email via the website www.pep.org.uk following links to South Acton.
