Phasing sequencing changes within the masterplan

In April 2015 the Council advised residents and leaseholder of South Acton that the Council’s Cabinet had agreed to proposals to amend future phases of the South Acton regeneration programme. Below is further detail about why this has take place and what this means to you as a resident or leaseholder.

We have created pages specifically for leaseholders and tenants explaining how the rephasing will affect you, please click each page for more information:

Why are changes to the programme needed?

A number of factors have come together to require a fresh look at how later phases of the scheme will be delivered:

  • Consultation for the development of the masterplan for the estate during 2010-11 spoke directly to nearly 700 households and helped the Council and Acton Gardens develop plans for the future. More detailed consultation indicated that a large number of residents wished to stay closer to where they currently live, rather than moving to other parts of the estate as originally planned.

  • Another key message from residents was that people wanted to see the scheme delivered more quickly so they could move to their new homes faster, and reduce the uncertainty of having to move in a number of years’ time.

What has happened since?

Following the withdrawal of the Government funding previously earmarked for the scheme, the Council and Acton Gardens have carefully reviewed the phasing of the programme and conducted in-depth household surveys to better determine the future requirements of each household. By utilising additional forward funding from the Council and a greater level of capital commitment from the developer, the scheme can be delivered more quickly as planned, whilst better meeting the requirements of residents who currently live at South Acton.
